Bubblegum Crisis A2Z - Q
Quincy
The Chairman [and founder] of Genom, Quincy has brought his company to a position
of world economic domination through both legal and illegal means. Genom has
sufficient power in Japan to dictate terms to the government, and is actively
attempting to destablise the governments of nations which are resistant to the
company's plans.
Quincy is old (he was born in 1962, making him 70 at the start of the series); however,
he has a plan to
delay his death from natural causes for some time, possibly planning to transfer
his consciousness into a boomer body, or even into the Net as a whole. Armstrong
discovered Quincy's plan, but never revealed any details before he was destroyed.
As a precaution against death by unnatural
causes, Quincy has a number of android doubles for use in potentially
dangerous situations.
Quincy is determined that Genom should become the ultimate power in the world,
economically and politically - a plan that will take years to accomplish, but he
is a very patient man. It seems likely that Genom engineered the 2025 earthquake in
order to consolidate their powerbase in the reconstruction. At least until 2033,
Genom hold all patents for the boomer technology [subcontracting some
manufacturing to companies like Gulf/Bradley and the Zone Corporation, rather than
releasing the valuable patents] first developed by Dr Stingray, and
this technology gives them an enormous advantage over any rivals. Quincy maintains
a hands-on approach to management - unless it involves illegal operations, in
which case he maintains plausible deniability - and even other senior board members
are terrified of him.
Quincy's most important project is the OMS - 'Overmind Control System' - which will
grant him almost limitless power when it is operational [the OMS is a system which
allows control over boomers, and possibly humans who have undergone some kind of
special implant procedure]. Largo thought the OMS was
important enough to destroy many of Genom's outposts around the world to obtain;
he failed, however, and Quincy retained control. [Genom was sufficiently weakened
by Largo's attacks to have to engage in partnership programmes with companies
such as Gulf/Bradley, until such a time as the company is back to full strength.]
Quincy and Genom have been quiet following the Vision affair
in 2033, but both will undoubtedly return to plague the Knight Sabers.
Quincy's Androids
A man as powerful as Quincy makes a lot of enemies, and
as a result Quincy has made use of boomer duplicates of himself in situations
where he might be in danger. He has used at least three - one in his meeting with
Largo, one to face off Reika Chang and
one at the opening presentation of the Genom Trophy Rally. As he was attacked
on each occasion, his forward planning paid off.
